MCM <br />management, from the Board of Directors to our <br />field offices, is committed to workplace and employ- <br />ee safety. Our safety department works to ensure <br />that our occupational safety and health policies and <br />practices are in line with industry leading “Best Prac- <br />tices.” Moreover, MCM employs degreed safety pro- <br />fessionals who are formally educated and trained <br />in Safety Management and OSHA compliance. A <br />Safety Manager is assigned to each project we build <br />in some capacity depending on the size and scope <br />of the project; our philosophy with each project we <br />build is to achieve zero negative incidents with re- <br />gard to employee safety and health. <br />To achieve the safety success that <br />has earned MCM a respected safe- <br />ty reputation and an exceptional <br />Experience Modification Rate <br />(EMR) of 0.74, we utilize the el- <br />ements listed below to cultivate a <br />safety culture that is representative of MCM’s com- <br />mitment to quality management and safe working <br />conditions: <br /> ►Perform a Hazard Analysis of the project scope to <br />identify areas of safety and health risk. <br /> ►Carefully select qualified subcontractors with <br />markedly better than average safety records. <br /> ►Require that superintendents, managers, <br />foremen, and/or crew leaders have ob- <br />tained a minimum 30 hr OSHA certification. <br /> ►Require that subcontractors be responsible <br />and accountable to project safety including <br />submission of required documentation of <br />qualified personnel. <br /> ►Ensure that all employees are qualified, <br />certified, and or trained to perform their duties. <br /> ►Each employee shall be given a project specific <br />orientation and be identified before starting work <br />onsite. <br /> ►Communication is a necessity! Weekly subcon- <br />tractor meetings will include SAFETY as a talking <br />point. Subcontractors are encouraged to commu- <br />MCM SAFETY RECORD <br />MCM’s Corporate Safety Manual, which was up- <br />dated November of 2014, includes over 300 pag- <br />es of standards, policies, forms, definitions, and <br />testing procedures that will be used to develop a <br />custom Site Specific Safety Program for the Sun- <br />ny Isles Beach Government Center Annex project. <br />By breaking each project down into manageable <br />“Definable Features of Work”, we can identify <br />the hazards associated with each phase of con- <br />struction and use a “Top-Down” approach so that <br />managers, foremen, and workers are all aware <br />and trained on the job site hazards. We track <br />“Man-Hours without a Near Miss” and keep the <br />workers motivated by recognizing safety achieve- <br />ments. This time tested approach has helped MCM <br />achieve an award winning safety record over it’s <br />31 year history.
