MCM management, from the Board of Directors to our field offices, is committed to workplace and employ- ee safety. Our safety department works to ensure that our occupational safety and health policies and practices are in line with industry leading “Best Prac- tices.” Moreover, MCM employs degreed safety pro- fessionals who are formally educated and trained in Safety Management and OSHA compliance. A Safety Manager is assigned to each project we build in some capacity depending on the size and scope of the project; our philosophy with each project we build is to achieve zero negative incidents with re- gard to employee safety and health. To achieve the safety success that has earned MCM a respected safe- ty reputation and an exceptional Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.74, we utilize the el- ements listed below to cultivate a safety culture that is representative of MCM’s com- mitment to quality management and safe working conditions: ►Perform a Hazard Analysis of the project scope to identify areas of safety and health risk. ►Carefully select qualified subcontractors with markedly better than average safety records. ►Require that superintendents, managers, foremen, and/or crew leaders have ob- tained a minimum 30 hr OSHA certification. ►Require that subcontractors be responsible and accountable to project safety including submission of required documentation of qualified personnel. ►Ensure that all employees are qualified, certified, and or trained to perform their duties. ►Each employee shall be given a project specific orientation and be identified before starting work onsite. ►Communication is a necessity! Weekly subcon- tractor meetings will include SAFETY as a talking point. Subcontractors are encouraged to commu- MCM SAFETY RECORD MCM’s Corporate Safety Manual, which was up- dated November of 2014, includes over 300 pag- es of standards, policies, forms, definitions, and testing procedures that will be used to develop a custom Site Specific Safety Program for the Sun- ny Isles Beach Government Center Annex project. By breaking each project down into manageable “Definable Features of Work”, we can identify the hazards associated with each phase of con- struction and use a “Top-Down” approach so that managers, foremen, and workers are all aware and trained on the job site hazards. We track “Man-Hours without a Near Miss” and keep the workers motivated by recognizing safety achieve- ments. This time tested approach has helped MCM achieve an award winning safety record over it’s 31 year history.
