Part of our Mission Statement is to have memorabilia in keeping with the context of this Board. Phillip Chemoff suggested housing the memorabilia in Heritage Park. City Historian Schulman and Mayor Edelcup drove by the Lagoon Restaurant which was already being demolished but they did find a sign of the Lagoon Restaurant Entrance. 7. Old Business. None 8. New Business: • Discussion of Temple B'nai Zion Original Architectural Design. Action: City Historian Schulman reported that we have four historic sites;and now we have an opportunity to discuss as an historic site the Temple B'nai Zion. It was,originally built as a United Lutheran Church in the 1960's and 1970's,Frank Lloyd Wright style. An historic event took place here which was creating the Holocaust Survivors Memorial. In order to be designated as an historic site this Board must follow certain procedural requirements including public hearings. Assistant City Attorney Amuchastegui reviewed the procedure for historic designation criteria. He said at this point we are merely discussing the procedural requirements to designate an historic site and that no final decision was being made at this juncture. Cassey Gabor moved and Trina Duluc seconded a motion to move forward and explore the possibility of designating the Temple B'nai Zion an historic site,and it was approved by a voice vote of 6-0-1 (Bonita Shoki absent) in favor. 9. Date and Time of Next Meeting. Action: Chairperson Masters said we should meet in about three months. After discussion it was decided to have the next meeting on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. 10.
