LIFE SAVING AWARD - DAVID BURGETT & EDGAR JIMENEZ <br /> ACTION: Police Captain Fred Maas presented a Citizen of the Month Certificate for April, 1999, <br /> to Edgar Jimenez, for his life saving, volunteer assistance. Captain Maas also presented a Citizen <br /> of the Month Certificate for April, 1999, to David Burgett for his life saving, volunteer assistance. <br /> Mayor Samson indicated that each gentleman would also receive a check from the Citizen <br /> Advisory Committee. <br /> 5C. CITY EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION PLAQUES <br /> ACTION: Mayor Samson expressed special gratitude and presented individual plaques to Police <br /> Commander Nannette Murray, Public Works Superintendent Bob Pushkin, Finance Director Jack <br /> Neustadt, and Building Official Michael Berkman, for their valuable assistance in the City's <br /> successful efforts in obtaining grant funds from the Federal, State and County governments. Mayor <br /> Samson also said each would also receive a check as a reward from the Citizen Advisory <br /> Committee. City Manager DiPietro expressed appreciation for the assistance of Jack Neustadt, Bob <br /> Pushkin, and Michael Berkman for their help in obtaining a State grant for parkland. Mayor <br /> Samson also thanked Police Chief Harrison and Lt. Feisthammel for their good work. <br /> 6. ZONING:(NONE) <br /> 7. ORDINANCES FOR FIRST READING: <br /> 7A. AN ORDNANCE OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING <br /> CHAPTER FIFTEEN OF THE CODE OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY AS ADOPTED BY <br /> SECTION 8.3 OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, TO INCLUDE <br /> A SECTION ENTITLED "DUMPSTER ENCLOSURE"; PROVIDING FOR SPECIFICATIONS, <br /> MATERIALS, AND LOCATION RELATIVE TO DUMPSTER ENCLOSURES; PROVIDING <br /> FOR RESIDENTIAL TRASH AND GARBAGE RECEPTACLE PICK UP AND REMOVAL <br /> PROVISIONS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; <br /> PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR DEFERRED ENFORCEMENT; <br /> PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> ACTION: City Clerk Brown-Morilla read the title of the proposed ordinance and City Manager <br /> DiPietro introduced the item. <br /> Public Speakers: none <br /> Commissioner Iglesias suggested including vinyl coated, chain-link fencing for the gated entrances. <br /> Commissioner Morrow moved, and Commissioner Iglesias seconded a motion to approve the <br /> proposed ordinance with inclusion of an amendment to permit vinyl coated, chain-link fences <br /> for the gated entrances. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5-0 in favor.
