SAMSON OCEANFRONT PARK <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS <br />TRANSIENT VOLTAGE SUPPRESSION 16289 - 2 <br />1. Testing Agency's Field Supervisor: Person currently certified by the InterNational Electrical Test- <br />ing Association or the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, to super- <br />vise on-site testing specified in Part 3. <br />B. Source Limitations: Obtain suppression devices and accessories through one source from a single <br /> manufacturer. <br />C. Product Options: Drawings indicate size, dimensional requirements, and electrical performance of sup- <br />pressors and are based on the specific system indicated. Other manufacturers' products complying with <br />requirements may be considered. Refer to Division 1 Section "Substitutions." <br />D. Electrical Components, Devices, and Accessories: Listed and labeled as defined in NFPA 70, Ar- <br />ticle 100, by a testing agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction, and marked for intended use. <br />E. IEEE Compliance: Comply with IEEE C62.41, "IEEE Guide for Surge Voltages in Low Voltage <br /> AC Power Circuits," and test devices according to IEEE C62.45, "IEEE Guide for Surge Suppres <br /> sor Testing." <br />F. NEMA Compliance: Comply with NEMA LS 1, "Low Voltage Surge Protective Devices." <br />G. UL Compliance: Comply with UL 1283, "Electromagnetic Interference Filters," and UL 1449, <br /> "Transient Voltage Surge Suppressors." <br />1.5 <br />A. Placing into Service: Do not energize or connect [service entrance equipment] [panelboards] <br /> [control terminals] [data terminals] to their sources until the surge protective devices are in <br /> stalled and connected. <br />PROJECT CONDITIONS <br />B. Existing Utilities: Do not interrupt utilities serving facilities occupied by Owner or others unless <br /> permitted under the following conditions and then only after arranging to provide temporary utility <br /> services according to requirements indicated: <br />1. Notify Architect not less than two days in advance of proposed utility interruptions. <br />2. Do not proceed with utility interruptions without Architect's written permission. <br />C. Service Conditions: Rate surge protective devices for continuous operation under the following <br /> conditions, unless otherwise indicated: <br />1. Maximum Continuous Operating Voltage: Not less than 115 percent of nominal system operating <br />voltage. <br />2. Operating Temperature: 30 to 120 deg F (0 to 50 deg C). <br />3. Humidity: 0 to 85 percent, noncondensing. <br />4. Altitude: Less than 20,000 feet (6000 m) above sea level. <br /> <br />1.6 <br />A. Coordinate location of field-mounted surge suppressors to allow adequate clearances for maintenance. <br />COORDINATION <br />B. Coordinate surge protective devices with Division 16 Section "Electrical Power Monitoring and <br />Control." <br />1.7 WARRANTY
