The electric service shall be of sufficient capacity and characteristics for the <br />various construction tools, machinery, lights, heating and air conditioning, <br />pumps, and other tools required by Contractor and his Subcontractors. In <br />areas of the project where permanent or temporary power service from the <br />local utility is not available, the Contractor shall supply and maintain engine- <br />driven, power-generator sets. <br />4. Provide weatherproof, grounded, power distribution system sufficient to <br />accommodate construction operations requiring power, use of power tools, <br />electrical heating and lighting. Provide overload protection. Supply power for <br />electric welding, if any, from engine-driven, power-generator sets. <br />5. Provide adequate artificial lighting for all areas of Work when natural light is not <br />adequate for Work. <br />6. Sufficient light shall be provided for general construction areas, with additional <br />sufficient lighting for specific tasks and to meet safety requirements. <br />B. Use of Permanent System: <br />1. Prior to use of permanent system to be installed by the power company for <br />construction purposes, obtain written permission of City. <br />2. Maintain permanent system as specified for temporary facilities. <br />C. Costs of Installation and Operation: <br />1. Pay fees and charges for permits and applications. <br />2. Pay costs of installation, maintenance, removal of temporary services, and <br />restoration of any permanent facilities used. <br />3. Pay costs of electrical power used (if applicable). <br />4. Pay costs of furnishing, operating, and maintaining engine-driven power- <br />generator sets, where applicable. <br />3.03 TEMPORARY HEAT AND VENTILATION: <br />A. General: <br />1. Provide temporary heat, ventilation and cooling as required to maintain <br />adequate environmental conditions in temporary office trailers and storage <br />sheds and to facilitate progress of the Work, to meet specified minimum <br />conditions for the installation of materials, and to protect materials and finishes <br />from damage. Protect from adverse affects of low temperatures or high <br />humidity, and to prevent hazardous accumulations of dust, fumes, vapors, or <br />gases. <br />2. Methods of heating and fuel shall be suitable for particular purposes. Portable <br />heaters shall be standard approved units with controls. <br />B. Costs of Installation and Operation: <br />1. Pay fees and charges for applications, permits, and inspections. <br />2. Pay costs of installation, operation, maintenance, removal of equipment, and <br />restoration of existing or permanent facilities if used. <br />3.
