<br />02240 - 1/2 <br />SECTION 02240 SOIL STABILIZATION <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.01 SCOPE: <br />A. Summary of Work: The CONTRACTOR shall furnish all labor, equipment, and <br />materials for stabilization of the soil to provide a firm and unyielding subgrade for the <br />Work as described in this section. <br />1. SECTION 02200 “Earthwork” <br />1.02 APPLICABLE PUBLICATIONS: The following standard specifications shall apply to the <br />work of this Section as indicated: <br />A. Florida Department of Transportation <br />1. Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, latest edition, <br />(FDOT). <br />B. American Society of Testing Materials, (ASTM). <br />1. ASTM D1557-00, Standard Test Methods for Laboratory Compaction <br />Characteristics of Soil Using the Modified Effort (56,000 ft-lb/ft3 (2,700 kN- <br />m/m3)). <br />2. ASTM D 2922-01, Standard Test Methods for Density of Soil and Soil- <br />Aggregate in Place by the Nuclear Methods (Shallow Depth). <br />C. Soils Report/Boring log, See Appendix. <br />1.03 DEFINITIONS: (Not Used) <br />1.04 SUBMITTALS: (Not Used) <br />1.05 QUALIFICATIONS: (Not Used) <br />1.06 RESPONSIBILITIES: (Not Used) <br />1.07 CERTIFICATIONS AND TESTING: The CONTRACTOR shall provide to the ENGINEER <br />three copies of certified test results for the tests required to be performed by the <br />CONTRACTOR. <br />1.08 INSPECTION COORDINATION: The CONTRACTOR shall provide access to the work for <br />the ENGINEER as requested for inspection. The Contractor shall provide 48 hours notice <br />of its intention to begin new WORK activities. The ENGINEER may perform field density <br />tests in accordance with ASTM Standards, for each type of material used in backfilling. <br />Failure to meet the specified density will require the CONTRACTOR to recompact and <br />retest, at its own expense, those areas directed by the ENGINEER <br />A. Soils Report/Boring log, See Appendix/Drawings. <br />1.09 WARRANTY: (Not Used) <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.01 PRODUCT REQUIREMENTS: <br />A.
