<br />02240 - 2/2 <br />conformance with FDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction <br />Section 914-3, Type B Stabilizing. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 PREPARATION: The CONTRACTOR shall prior to the beginning of the stabilizing <br />operations, grade the area to be stabilized to an elevation such that upon completion of <br />the stabilizing operations the stabilized subgrade will conform to the lines, grades and <br />cross sections shown on the Drawings. <br />3.02 APPLICATION OF STABILIZING MATERIAL: The CONTRACTOR shall spread the <br />stabilizing material uniformly over the area to be stabilized. The CONTRACTOR shall then <br />mix the material with rotary tillers, or other equipment meeting the approval of the <br />ENGINEER. The area to be stabilized shall be thoroughly mixed throughout the entire <br />depth and width of the stabilizing area. <br />3.03 COMPACTION: After mixing operations are completed, the CONTRACTOR shall compact <br />the area to the minimum density as required by FDOT Section 160. The subgrade shall <br />be firm and unyielding; to the extent that it will support construction equipment. The <br />CONTRACTOR shall remove all soft and yielding material, and any other portions of the <br />subgrade, which will not compact readily, and replace with suitable material and the whole <br />subgrade brought to line and grade. <br />3.04 FINISH GRADING: The CONTRACTOR shall shape the completed stabilized subgrade <br />shall to conform to the finished lines, grades, and cross-sections indicated on the <br />Drawings. <br />3.05 MAINTENANCE: After the subgrade has been completed as specified, the <br />CONTRACTOR shall maintain it free from, ruts, depressions and any damage resulting <br />from the hauling or handling of materials, equipment, etc. It shall be the CONTRACTOR's <br />responsibility to maintain the required density until the subsequent base is in place. <br /> <br />END OF SECTION <br />
