<br />02401 - 1/2 <br />SECTION 02401 DEWATERING <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.01 SCOPE: <br />A. Summary or Work: The CONTRACTOR shall furnish all labor, material and <br />equipment necessary for the removal of all surface and subsurface waters from <br />excavation areas. <br />1.02 APPLICABLE PUBLICATIONS: <br />A. Contract specific Soils Report / Report of Geotechnical Investigation <br />1.03 SUBMITTALS: The CONTRACTOR shall make submittals in accordance with SECTION <br />01300 and the following: <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall submit to the ENGINEER a dewatering plan, which <br />includes dewatering equipment, safety procedures, sequence of construction, and <br />re-watering procedures, prior to the start of any such operations. <br />B. Acquire all permits required to discharge water and protect waterways from turbidity <br />during the dewatering operation. Discharge of waters off the canal right-of-way will <br />not be permitted. <br />1.04 RESPONSIBILITIES: <br />A. The dewatering of any excavation areas and disposal of all water handled shall be in <br />strict accordance with all local and state government rules and regulations and the <br />dewatering permit. <br />B. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for the design and permitting of the <br />dewatering system including, but not necessarily limited to, required pump <br />equipment, temporary shoring, as well as any miscellaneous temporary structures <br />required. <br />1.05 INSPECTION COORDINATION: The CONTRACTOR shall provide access to the WORK <br />for the ENGINEER as requested for inspection. The Contractor shall provide 48 hours <br />notice of its intention to begin new WORK activities. <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.01 PRODUCT REQUIREMENTS: All materials used in the construction of the dewatering <br />facilities shall be selected, furnished and installed by the CONTRACTOR in accordance <br />with the design as submitted to the ENGINEER. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 DEWATERING: <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall provide adequate equipment for removal of storm, and <br />subsurface waters, which may accumulate in the excavation. <br />B. The CONTRACTOR shall perform all work for the water system in the excavation <br />free from water. The CONTRACTOR shall furnish, install, maintain, and operate all <br />necessary pumping and other equipment necessary for dewatering the work area.
