<br />02510 - 3/5 <br />C. The width of all repairs shall extend at least 12 inches beyond the limit of the <br />damage, and no more than 3 sidewalk flags. The edge of the sidewalk to be left <br />in place shall be cut to a true edge along an existing expansion joint or edge of <br />flag, with a saw or other approved method so as to provide a clean edge to abut <br />the repair. The line of the repair shall be reasonable uniform with no unnecessary <br />irregularities. <br /> <br />3.03 CURBS AND GUTTERS: The CONTRACTOR shall construct concrete curbs and gutters <br />as specified in FDOT Specifications - Section 520 where shown on the Drawings and as <br />necessary to restore existing conditions. <br />A. Curbs shall be constructed in uniform sections ten feet in length except where <br />shorter sections are necessary for closures or arcs. The sections shall be <br />Separated by sheet metal templates set perpendicular to the face and tip of the <br />curve and not less than 2 inches longer than the depth of the curb. The templates <br />shall be held firmly during the placing of the concrete and shall be allowed to <br />remain in place until the concrete has set sufficiently to hold its shape, but shall be <br />removed while the forms are still in place. <br />B. After the concrete has sufficiently set for a minimum of 12 hours, the <br />CONTRACTOR shall remove the forms and backfill the spaces on each side. The <br />earth shall be compacted in satisfactory manner without damage to the concrete <br />work. Minor defects shall be filled with a mortar composed of one part Portland <br />cement and two parts fine aggregate. <br />3.04 MISCELLANEOUS CONCRETE SLABS: The CONTRACTOR shall construct <br />miscellaneous concrete slabs for mechanical equipment as indicated on the Drawings and <br />as specified in FDOT Specifications Section 350. <br />3.05 PRE-CAST CONCRETE WHEEL STOPS: The CONTRACTOR shall install pre-cast <br />concrete wheel stops by anchoring them with at least two three-quarter inch round <br />reinforcing bars driven a minimum of one foot into the pavement. Use a setting tool to <br />recess anchor rod a minimum of one-half inch below the top surface and caulk the <br />opening. Wheel stops damaged when driving rods shall be replaced with new bumpers. <br />3.06 FORMS: The CONTRACTOR shall install the forms in accordance with the following: <br />A. Use flexible forms for all curved form lines except: <br />1. Curves having a radius of 200 feet or greater may be formed in 10 foot or <br />shorter chords. <br />2. Curves having a radius of 100 feet or greater may be formed in 5 foot or <br />shorter chords. <br />B. Thoroughly clean, oil, securely stake, brace, and hold forms to line and grade. <br />C. Remove forms from front face of curb section at the time necessary to permit <br />finishing concrete. Leave other forms in place not less than 12 hours after <br />placement of concrete. <br />3.07 JOINTS: The CONTRACTOR shall install joints in the curbs as follows: <br />A. Contraction Joints: <br />1. Construct at locations indicated and as follows: <br />a. Division concrete curb into monolithic sections not greater than 10 inches <br />in length.
