Oakland Park - NE 12th Avenue N
Oakland Park,Florida
Client: City of Oakland Park
Scope: Full Services
As part of the revitalization program for the City of Oakland Park's Community Redevelopment Area
(CRA)and Downtown District, NE 12th Avenue was considered a prime area to be redesigned as
a vibrant and compact area to foster smart growth and stimulate economic development.Located
immediately in the downtown area, adjacent to the Florida East Coast railway and at walking
distance to the newly designed Jaco Pastorius Park, the Avenue is ideal to propose mixed-use
development, enhance new housings opportunities and improve transportation facilities. The
new design offers a safe and organized pedestrian network throughout the downtown area.
The Avenue provides ample side parking spaces and the sidewalks are wide and bordered by
benches, shaded trees and lush landscaping. At key road intersections, fountain areas have
been designed as gathering spaces for citizens and visitors to support street life and foster social
activities. EDSA was proud to be part of a design team that provided detailed design services as
well as construction documents, premitting, bidding assistance, and construction administration
which offered the City new ground for a future vibrant main street.
