Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting December 17.2015 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida <br /> 5. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br /> - 5A. A Certificate of Appreciation to be Presented to Sunny Isles Beach Police Detective Jessica <br /> Letizia for her Role in the Human Trafficking Unit for the Dade State Attorney's Office. <br /> Action: Captain Michael Grandinetti reported that Detective Jessica Letizia has received <br /> almost every award possible in the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department. But none were <br /> more important than the most recent accolades she received from Dade County State <br /> Attorney Katherine Rundle for her participation in the Human Trafficking Unit of the State <br /> Attorney's Office. We receive numerous accolades from the medical profession,the Victim <br /> Advocates of the Sexual Battery and Rape Treatment Centers, and others. This is all due to <br /> Detective Letizia's professionalism,her dedication,her thorough investigation,and her case <br /> preparations for court. Detective Letizia has brought unending praise to the reputation of the <br /> Sunny Isles Beach Police Department. According to Chief Maas,who was unable to be here <br /> tonight as he is out of town for a family emergency, he has been asked numerous times to <br /> detach Detective Letizia to the State Attorney's Task Force on a full time basis, but her <br /> investigative talents and personal qualities are needed here in our own City. <br /> Mayor Scholl read the Certificate of Appreciation into the record, and the Mayor and <br /> Commission congratulated her. <br /> 5B. A Presentation to Winners of the Sunny Isles Beach Photo Contest for the City's 2016 <br /> Calendar. <br /> Action: Communications Coordinator Alayne Yeash of the Cultural and Community <br /> Services Department said the competition for the 2016 desktop calendar was fierce with a <br /> record number of 48 photographers contributing, the judges had to make some difficult <br /> choices. Many fine shots did not make the final cut as there were only 15 spots to fill, the <br /> runner-up shots however will be used in such places as the quarterly Living Magazine, the <br /> monthly Islander, the City's Website, and in various marketing articles or ads, and so they <br /> are getting recognition. <br /> Ms. Yeash said as we go through the shots this year, you will notice the theme is about <br /> perspective, and she made a PowerPoint Presentation of the 2016 Calendar. As she <br /> announced the winners,Cultural and Community Services Director Susan Simpson presented <br /> them each with an etched glass plaque shaped as a camera and a gift bag of calendars. The <br /> winning photographers are as follows: Sonny Sabatto;Harry Frahm; Suzanne Noujaim;Chad <br /> Christensen; Miguel Mori; Miriam Poletto; Alex Vinokur; Charles Thomas; Sylvie Leidi; <br /> Ekaterina Khramova;Jorge Santana;Guillermo Levain;and Valentino Leidi. Ms.Yeash said <br /> she would get the awards to those who were not here tonight. <br /> 5C. Acknowledgement of the City Manager's Employees of the Year. <br /> Action: City Manager Russo announced that we have four(4)recipients of the City Manager <br /> Employees of the Year. It is put out to all of our staff to have their supervisor,co-worker,or <br /> any of our Department Heads make nominations, and for each of the four people, and he <br /> wanted to point this out because this is a very important thing and it says a lot about the <br /> organization.
