Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting December 17,2015 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida
worker or their supervisor or Department Head, it was also suggested in the nomination put
in by different Department's supervisors or co-workers from a different department that
acknowledged and realized their efforts. The four recipients are, and he will start out with
the one that is not here tonight who has been working quite hard and has been sick since last
week, and he is Darrin Graumann,Events Coordinator,Cultural&Community Services. As
many of you know, Darrin has been with us just a short couple of years and in that time he
has done wonders to the quality and creativeness of many of our programs. He deals with
our most visible, largest, and most complex programs that we put on for the public, and his
touch has made a tremendous improvement in that.
City Manager Russo said the three recipients that are here tonight, and he will start with
Lester Alexander,Athletics Program Coordinator,Cultural&Community Services. He calls
Lester one of the real unsung heroes, he is a quiet guy, and he has taken on much more than
the supervision and oversight of our sports programs which is what you would think from his
title. He is not going to go into everything but he has taken on quite a bit above and beyond
his duties. When we needed a certified playground supervisor,he took that role. When we
lost Christine who was handling programming at PCP, he helped fill in that role. When we
decided to take over the Skate Park he took control of that and created a reporting system,
and got us some real information and much better management and care, and the list goes on.
City Manager Russo said the third recipient is our Assistant Finance Director Tiffany Neely-
Jean who held things together through this budget process for a few weeks when Finance
Director Audra Curts-Whann had an accident, and that was recognized by a number of
Departments because there were a lot of long hours trying to figure out everything that Audra
knew. We did a really good job holding it up under Tiffany for those few weeks.
City Manager Russo said the last and certainly not least is Debra Lima, Administrative
Assistant, Public Works. With the staff changes that we had there she really stepped up to
the plate to assist in seeing that we didn't miss a beat. She has taken ownership to a lot of
things to see that it gets done,to see that processes were followed, that a lot of initiatives that
we had kept on going, and her dedication to the job, because she knew somebody needed to
step in and do it. He asked the recipients to come up and he presented them each with an
award. The Mayor and City Commission congratulated them.
5D. Add-On:
A Special Presentation by the Santos FC Soccer Club.
Action: Commissioner Aelion said this afternoon he received a fax that the Coach of our
local Soccer Club Team Santos,Coach Robson Manente, who was with the actual Brazilian
National Team wanted to take this opportunity to make a presentation and thank the City and
City Officials. Coach Manente, along with a translator, thanked the City and City Officials
for all these years of their support. Coach Manente and several members of the Santos FC
Soccer Club presented Mayor Scholl and the City Commission with gift bags. Mayor Scholl
and the Commission thanked them.
3
