CITIZENS' FORUM: REQUESTS, PETITIONS & OTHER COMMUNICATIONS
13A. Caroline Mathews said the water meter on 172nd Street on the east side of Collins Avenue
has been broken for over two months. There is a big triangular piece missing from the grate.
She also said there are more and more dog droppings everywhere in the City because it is not
being enforced, that people have to pick it up, and children on the way to school are now
starting to step in it. Lastly,on Wednesday afternoons all the children get out of school at the
same time (1:45 p.m.). A couple of Wednesdays ago there was a meeting called and all of
the employees at the Park were at the meeting. She was there with her child watching all the
other children, and she saw a little 10-year old get pushed down time after time. There was
nobody watching the Park, she had to go into the office after addressing the boys to which
they responded"you are not in charge of the Park, you are just a mom, go away." The older
children complained that the field is locked and they have nowhere else to go but the
playground. Either somebody has to be assigned there every day, whether there is a meeting
or not and they can be filled in later, or meetings should not be scheduled on the one day
where the entire school gets out at the same time.
14.
