Hines, City Clerk MEMORANDUM Rick Conner, City Manager Susan Simpson, Cultural and Human Services Director June 17,2010 Community Shutde Bus Purchase Additional Information The following is additional information as requested by the City Commission in regards to the purchase of the new community shutde bus for the June 17, 2010 Commission agenda: . The estimate to wrap the bus with decals and logos of the City of Sunny Isles Beach is $3,440. . The tag and tide transfer is estimated at less than $500. . These two required items are not included the purchase price of $93,290 as they are via different vendors. . The total cost for acquiring the bus and getting it road ready is $97,230. . The City intends to acquire 2 additional new buses through the ARRA program through Miami-Dade County. This current purchase does not impact that grant. . The current fleet of 5 buses is comprised of 2-2004 Chevy buses, 1-2004 Ford bus, 1-2006 Ford bus and 1-2008 Ford bus. . Ford currendy does not manufacture the engine large enough for the size of the bus that we are purchasing. A quote was acquired for an International bus of the same size and quality at $112,000. . The original contract price for this bus was $103,865.58. It was fIrst discounted to $98,630. A further $5,000 deduction was negotiated when it was suggested that the purchase of the 2009 engine be considered for a fmal price of $93,290, over $10,000 from the original state contract price. . The last bus purchase in full was in 2006 in which we paid $79,690 for a 16 passenger, with 2 fold down seats for a total of 18 passengers. The purchase in 2008 was a partial due to the fIre of one of the 2006 buses. That replacement bus with less options was $75,411. (Some options were salvaged and used on the replacement bus to reduce the price.) . The current bus is a full 20 passenger bus with 4 fold down seats for a total of 24 passengers with all of the same options as the current fleet. A~te~' IOfL Date to- 17- I 0
