<br />Preview <br /> <br />Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br /> <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />18070 Collins Avenue <br />Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160 <br /> <br />(305) 947-0606 City Hall <br />(305) 949-3113 Fax <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />The Honorable Mayor and City Commission <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Susan Simpson, Cultural and Human Services Director <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />6/17/2010 <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO RATIFY THE PURCHASE OF A NEW <br />COMMUNITY SHUTTLE BUS <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission consider the attached resolution to ratify the <br />purchase of a new Community Shuttle Bus from First Class Coach Sales Corp. in an <br />amount not to exceed Ninety Three Thousand, Two Hundred, Ninety Dollars <br />($93,290.00). <br /> <br />REASONS: <br /> <br />The fleet of five Community Shuttle Buses is made up of two buses that are over 5 years <br />old that are in need of replacement. They are consistently out of service for repairs and <br />hamper the quality and consistency of the service as certain days, a minimum of 4 buses <br />are required to provide our standard service. <br /> <br />Although staff has been working with Miami-Dade County to purchase two replacement <br />buses utilizing the American Recovery Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds, these buses <br />will not be available to the City until 2011. <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> <br />As this quote came in less than the state contract amount, the City Manager exercised his <br />authority to waive the competitive bidding process in order to secure the purchase with a <br />$5,000 savings. <br /> <br />This is a ratification as there was a sense of urgency to secure this vehicle while it was <br />available and while this savings was available. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />.
