<br />Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting <br /> <br />May 21,2009 <br /> <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach. Florida <br /> <br />Mayor Edelcup said he would like the message sent to FDOT that the amount being paid is <br />not equivalent in 2009 as it was in 1997. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Thaler moved and Commissioner Brezin seconded a motion to approve this <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2009-1410 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> <br />10D. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Authorizing <br />the City Manager to Apply For and Accept a Florida Department of Transportation <br />(FDOT) Local Area Participation (LAP) Grant on Behalf of the City, in an Amount of <br />$456,640.00, for the Collins Avenue Streetscape Improvements Project from 183rd <br />Street to 172nd Street; Authorizing the City Manager to Take Any and All Action Necessary <br />With Respect to the Obtaining and Distribution of Grant Monies, as Appropriate; Providing <br />for an Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Assistant City Manager/Finance Doug Haag <br />reported. He said the next step would be waiting on approval of our project which should <br />happen sometime this summer, and once it is approved the next step would be to issue the <br />bids, we can't issue bids until we receive notification of approval of project from FDOT. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: none <br /> <br />Mayor Edelcup noted this is a grant coming indirectly from the Federal Government as part <br />of the stimulus package. We can't start these projects until the funds are received. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Thaler moved and Commissioner Scholl seconded a motion to approve this <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2009-1411 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> <br />10E. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Expressing <br />Support for the "Building Citizenship in the Community: Back to Basics" Initiative of <br />the Florida League of Cities, Inc., and in its Statewide Efforts; Authorizing the City <br />Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution; Providing for an <br />Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Cultural and Human Services Director Susan <br />Simpson reported. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: none <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Thaler moved and Commissioner Brezin seconded a motion to approve this <br />resolution.
