Chief FredMaas <br />TO: Commission, City Manager and Mayor of Sunny Isles Beach <br />DATE: October 14, 1999 <br />REF: Forfeiture Expenditures <br />The State Forfeiture monies that we are compelled to spend. FSS 932.7055, are <br />15% of our total intake of funding this fiscal period. Our intake was $121,789.00 <br />therefore our required spending is $18,268,15 for last fiscal year <br />I am recommending that we utilize that money in the following areas: <br />1. $10.000. to the Crime Prevention Program for the purchase of T-shirts <br />hats brochures, and other awareness items for the public. <br />2. $3,500.00 for the purchase of a display board to utilize during training <br />meetings of the city and police department to increase crime prevention <br />awareness for the public. <br />3. $4,768.35 for boating equipment, i.e. lights, sirens, etc, to increase the <br />visibility of our police boat thereby preventing crimes against persons and <br />property via the water which surrounds our city. <br />SSiincerelly� <br />Fred Maas <br />Chief of Police <br />17070 COLLINS AN'E1tiE N255—Sti\EVY ISLES BEACH FLORIDA 3.3160 <br />(305) 947-4440 FAX (305) 947-4650 <br />
