<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001- :!{3 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, CREATING A COMMUNITY <br />TRAFFIC SAFETY TEAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND SETTING <br />FORTH ITS PURPOSE; PROVIDING FOR APPOINTMENT OF <br />MEMBERS, TERMS AND SPECIFIC ADVISORY CAPACITY; <br />PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A CHAIRMAN AND VICE- <br />CHAIR; PROVIDING FOR POWERS AND DUTIES; PROVIDING FOR <br />MEETINGS AND MINUTES SUBJECT TO THE SUNSHINE LAWS; <br />PROVIDING FOR REQUIRED DISCLOSURES; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to encourage greater citizen participation in <br />police and public safety affairs through the development of information, recommendations and <br />general advice to the Commission in various areas; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State of Florida has endorsed the development of community traffic <br />safety programs and activities to reduce the number of traffic accidents, injuries and fatalities on <br />local roadways and gather local knowledge of specific safety concerns; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission recognizes that the creation of a Community Traffic <br />Safety Team Advisory Committee, with broad-based skills in public information, education and <br />public safety would provide critical support in programs, activities and exercises that would <br />reduce the number of fatalities within the City of Sunny Isles Beach; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 2.2 of the City's Charter grants the Mayor the right to appoint <br />standing committees at his/her discretion at any time: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Creation and Purpose. The Traffic Safety Team Advisory Committee <br />("Committee") is hereby created, pursuant to Section 2.2 of the City's Charter. The purpose of <br />the Committee is to promote better traffic conditions, by advising and recommending to the <br />Commission, multi-disciplinary programs, activities and exercises that would reduce the number <br />of fatalities within the City of Sunny Isles Beach and provide local knowledge of specific safety <br />concerns. <br /> <br />Section 2. Members and Terms.
