<br />a. All members of the Committee shall be residents of the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach. <br /> <br />b. Each City Commissioner shall submit one candidate thereby creating the five- <br />member committee. The names shall be submitted within fourteen (14) days <br />from the date of this Resolution and the committee shall be constituted no <br />later than one month from the date of this Resolution. <br /> <br />c. There should be a liason from the Police Department to the Committee who <br />shall be designated by the Chief of Police. <br /> <br />d. The term of office of each member shall be three (3) official years, except <br />that the initial appointments of two (2) members shall be for one (1) year; one <br />(1) member shall be for two (2) years and two (2) members shall be for three <br />(3) years. <br /> <br />Section 3. Appointment of Chair and Vice Chair. In accordance with Section 2.2 of the <br />Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, the Mayor shall appoint the Chair and Vice Chair of <br />the Committee. <br /> <br />Section 4. <br /> <br />Powers and Duties. <br /> <br />The Committee shall have the power to investigate existing traffic conditions and to make <br />recommendations to the City Commission concerning traffic regulation, traffic laws, parking <br />laws and all other matters relating to the flow of traffic. However, when the City Commission <br />has under consideration a request for an amendment to the City's zoning code, rezoning of a site, <br />site plan approval or subdivision approval, the consideration of the Traffic Safety Team <br />Advisory Committee, which may affect such matter, shall be suspended. The Committee will <br />undertake the development of projects and activities and serve as a resource within our <br />community, and to any other local, state and federal government agencies and roadway users in <br />an effort to reduce traffic accidents, injuries and fatalities. <br /> <br />Sections 5. <br /> <br />Meetings Subiect to Sunshine Laws. <br /> <br />The meetings shall be held at the call of the Chairperson. This Committee shall be subject to the <br />Sunshine Laws and, as such shall maintain minutes of all meetings, showing the vote of each <br />member on each question and shall give proper notice as to meeting times and dates. The City <br />Attorney may conduct a workshop to educate all members regarding public records, Sunshine <br />laws and rules of procedure as adopted by the Commission prior to the convening of the <br />Committee. <br /> <br />Section 6. Required Disclosures. The appointments, once made in writing in accordance <br />with Section 2 hereinabove shall become effective immediately upon the filing with the Clerk of <br /> <br />Traffic Safety Committee <br />LMD:ch <br />10/8/01 -- 4 :09 PM <br /> <br />2 <br />
