<br />B. Work Included: <br /> <br />1. Maintenance shall include all mowing, watering, weeding, fertilizing, cultivating, spraying, <br />adjustment of guying, staking and pruning necessary to keep plant materials in a hea.lthy <br />vigorous growing condition and keep planted areas neat and attractive. <br /> <br />2. Provide all equipment and means for proper application of water to those planted areas not <br />provided with an irrigation system. <br /> <br />C. Replacements: <br /> <br />1. At Final Acceptance, plant material shall be in a healthy growing condition. <br /> <br />2. During maintenance period immediately replace any plants showing weakness and probabi.lity <br />of failure with a new, healthy plant of the same type and size, without additional cost to <br />CITY. <br /> <br />D. Post Installation: <br /> <br />Post Installation treatment specifications for Phoenix Dactylifera 'Medjool' during the (18) month <br />warranty period: <br /> <br />1. Fertilization: Palms to be fertilized four times per year in months of February, May, August <br />and November. Fertilizer to be 12/6/8 with minor elements. The rate of application shall be <br />10 pounds per palm per application. <br />2. Disease Control: Three times per year all palms will be treated with a systematic fungicid~:(s) <br />which is labeled Fusarium, Pithium and Phythophthora. These applications will be perfomled <br />as a root drench during the months of March, July and November and are considered to be <br />preventive maintenance. <br />3. Observation: It shall be the CONTRACTOR'S obligation to perform regular monthly <br />inspections of the palms and report to the CITY any site c~ndition which may be detrimental <br />to the health and vitality of the palms. Further, the CONTRACTOR is responsible to report <br />the development of disease or other problems along with recommended solutions. Thl~e <br />reports are to be written and should be received by the CITY'S representative no later than <br />ten (10) days after each inspection. It is required that the CONSULTANT be notified in <br />advanced of planned activities in order to allow them to witness and record the applications. <br /> <br />3.09 WARRANTY <br /> <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall warranty trees, plants and palms as defined below, after acceptance by the <br />CONSULTANT. Any planting that fails or dies within that period shall be replaced and replanted <br />immediately without expense to CITY, provided that the CONTRACTOR shall not be held responsible <br />for losses beyond their control arising from "Acts of Providence"; acts of vandalism; or loss arising <br />from documented neglect on the part of CITY to properly care for planting after acceptance. <br /> <br />1. Grass areas in unsightly or damaged condition for a period of 90 days after fmal acceptanc;e. <br /> <br />2. Shrubs and ground-cover for a period of 18 months after Final Acceptance. <br /> <br />3. Trees and palms for a period of 18 months after Final Acceptance. <br /> <br />02900-10 <br />
