Dig and prepare for shipment in manner that will not damage roots, <br />branches, shape, and future development after replanting. Oak trees <br />shall be root pruned 30 days prior to digging and hardened off at the <br />supplier's nursery under mist for 30 to 60 days. <br />b. Ball with firm, natural balls of soil, per Florida Grades and Standards. <br />c. Wrap ball firmly with burlap or strong cloth and tie: ANSI Z60.1. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Specimen Plants: Exercise care in digging, wrapping, and binding of such <br />specimens to assure safe loading, shipment and handling. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />Bare Root Plants: <br />a. Refer to Section 02481 in its entirety for trees and palms. <br /> <br />Delivery: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Deliver soil conditioners (pesticides, herbicides, fumigants, and fertilizers) to <br />site in original unopened containers bearing manufacturer's guaranteed chemical <br />analysis, name, trade name, trademark, and conformance to state law. Store in <br />designated areas only. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Deliver planting soil mixes and mulch in bulk with manufacturer's guaranteed <br />mix, name, and conformance to State law. Store in designated areas only. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Deliver plants with legible identification labels. <br />a. Label trees, evergreens, containers of like shrubs, or groundcover plants. <br />b. State correct plant name and size indicated on Plant List. <br />c. Use durable waterproof labels with water resistant ink which will remain <br />legible for at least 60 days. <br /> <br />Protect during transport/delivery with shade cloth or other acceptable means to <br />prevent wind burn. <br /> <br />02490-2 <br /> <br />03-4138.8 <br />
