<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006- ..:tll <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A <br />PURCHASE AND SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH T-MOBILE <br />FOR THE PURCHASE OF 28 BLACKBERRY PHONE <br />DEVICES WITH UNLIMITED DATA USAGE, 35 CELLULAR <br />PHONE EQUIPMENT, AND THE DELIVERY OF WIRELESS <br />PHONE SERVICES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED <br />FIFTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($55,000.00) FOR THE <br />FIRST YEAR, ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"j <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS <br />NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, wireless technology and cellular phone services have afforded City officials <br />and employees the ability to remain mobile without sacrificing work product; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, BlackBerry devices are wireless pocket-size units which offer the option to <br />generate and receive telephone calls, send text messages, schedule appointments and perform <br />certain internet functions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, providing the City officials and designated City employees with <br />BlackBerry devices will allow such individuals to perform their duties more efficiently and be <br />mOi'e resjJOn~~e tothe needsand concelllso[City resi<ients;and n_ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department is also in need of an updated <br />wireless telephone system and new phone equipment for its officers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, T-Mobile has agreed to provide the City with twenty-eight (28) Blackberry <br />devices with unlimited data usage and thirty-five (35) cellular phone devices at no cost to the <br />City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this is the City's first budgeted phase in a two-phase plan to integrate the <br />entire City Government Center into the T-Mobile wireless system for all wireless telephone <br />services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City wish to enter into a twelve (12) month agreement with T-Mobile to <br />provide wireless services for 35 cellular phones and 28 Blackberry devices with unlimited data <br />usage, and has budgeted Fifty-Five Thousand Dollars, ($55,000.00) for this purpose, as provided <br />in Exhibit "A", attached hereto; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the term of the proposed agreement is renewable at the City's option; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 62-13 of the City Code, this agreement is exempt from <br />the competitive bidding requirements; and <br /> <br />R2006- Blackberry Purchase & Maintenance Services Agrmt <br />Page I of2 <br />
