<br />· The City Manager shall take all steps necessary to implement the naming <br />or renaming of the public t~lcility. The City Manager or designee shall file <br />the name designation with the City Clerk. at which time the name will <br />become official. The City Manager or designees shall within a reasonable <br />time schedule a naming or renaming ceremony. <br /> <br />4. Responsibility: <br /> <br />· The City Commission is authorized to establish additional criteria and <br />procedures to be followed in selecting names to be placed on public <br />facilities. <br /> <br />· The City Commission has the final authority to approve or disapprove of <br />any name that may be submitted for tinal approval. <br /> <br />5. Criteria: <br /> <br />· In order to provide an appropriate naming of public t~lcilities and prevent <br />duplication, the City Commission shall make sure existing public <br />facilities, building or any other structures or parks do not bear the same <br />name, except for any facility that was designated prior to adoption of <br />policy. <br />· The City Commission shall consider factors such as the historical and <br />cultural signi ficance, geographical location, distinctive natural or <br />geological features, and wishes of the community in the facility which is <br />located. <br />· Public facilities may be named after a person that is alive or deceased. <br />The name should be of an individual that has enhanced the quality of life <br />within the city. <br />· Public facilities may be named after researched shows that facility. place <br />or public t~lcilities has been commonly. yet unofficially. named by the <br />residents of the area. <br />· A name, once bestowed. is permanent. except where there is good cause <br />to remove a name. Good cause means a reasonable justification for the <br />removable of the name. <br />· No more that one name can occur on the City's properties. <br />· No name will be considered that diminishes the historic integrity of a <br />requested facility or property. <br /> <br />6. Naming of City Buildings, Parks, and Streets: <br /> <br />Notwithstanding any other provisions in this policy statement. city buildings, <br />parks and streets shall be named under the following criteria.
