I I I I I '-'\".I <br />and stored by the Contractor before, during, and after shipment in a manner <br /> <br />to prevent warping, twisting, bending, breaking, chipping, rusting, and any <br /> <br />injury, theft or damage of any kind whatsoever to the material or equipment. <br /> <br />Cement, sand and lime shall be stored under a roof and off the ground and <br />shall be kept completely dry at all times. All structural and miscellaneous <br />steel, and reinforcing steel shall be stored off the ground or otherwise to <br />prevent accumulations of dirt or grease, and to minimize rusting. Brick, <br />block and similar masonry products shall be handled and stored in a <br />manner to reduce breakage, chipping, cracking, and spalling to a minimum. <br /> <br />Moving parts shall be rotated a minimum of once weekly to insure proper <br />lubrications and to avoid metal-to-metal "welding". Upon installation of the <br />equipment, the Contractor shall start the equipment, at least half load, once <br />weekly for an adequate period of time to insure that the equipment does not <br />deteriorate from lack of use. <br /> <br />All materials which, in the opinion of the Engineer, have become so <br />damaged as to be unfit for the use intended or specified shall be promptly <br />removed from the site of the work, and the Contractor shall receive no <br />compensation for the damaged material or its removal. <br /> <br />Arrange storage in a manner to provide easy access for inspection. Make <br />periodic inspections of stored Products to assure that Products are <br />maintained under specific conditions, and free from damage or <br />deterioration. <br /> <br />Protection After Installation: <br />1. Provide substantial coverings as necessary to protect installed <br />products from damage from traffic and subsequent construction <br />operations. Remove <br /> <br />The Contractor shall be responsible for all materials, equipment, and <br />supplies sold and delivered to the Owner under this Contract until final <br />inspection of the work and acceptance thereof by the Owner. In the event <br />any such material, equipment, and supplies are lost, stolen, damaged, or <br />destroyed prior to final inspection and acceptance, the Contractor shall <br />replace same without additional cost to the Owner. <br /> <br />01600-4 <br /> <br />06-5723 <br />
