MISINIR MARINI
CONStRUCTION INC

Factor 6 - Project Coordination Procedures

Misener Marine, through years of experience in the industry is use to conducting our work in and
around environmentally sensitivity areas. We are also very experienced in working in aggressive weather
environments such as the open ocean and the challenges it can bring. We realize the importance of
achieving the completion dates given within the documents and are prepared to allocate all resources
necessary to expedite this project. One of the methods we are proposing to use will not only help
minimize the impacts to the environment but help minimize the delays to the completion date that
could be caused by rough seas/weather while working on the water. Even though this method is a faster
and safer way of completing this work, the weather will still be monitored daily and evaluated taking
safety measures into account.

Demolition of Existing Structure
Extreme care will be taken while installing and removing a temporary work trestle alongside the existing
pier to help facilitate the removal of the existing structure. This will not only minimize the impacts to the
environment that could be caused by the floating equipments anchoring system but also help minimize
weather delays that may be caused from rough seas. The existing pier will be removed in its entirety
starting from the landside and working our way out while working off of the temporary trestle. The
materials removed will be evaluated and disposed of in the proper landfills. Any debris that may fall into
the water during the removal will be retrieved and disposed of so as to not cause a hazard to the
environment, boaters and swimmers or beach public. The debris will either be hauled off site using
trucks or material barges. Our material barges if used either for hauling or transporting materials to the
site will not be anchored to the oceans floor.

Constructing of the New Pier
With the aggressive schedule and date of completion given, the contractor understands the need for
multiple crews working in multiple locations in order to achieve these dates.

Waterside: The new pier will be constructed starting from the landside going out while working from
the temporary trestle. We will have a crew installing the pile while a second crew follows behind
constructing the caps, deck and hand railing. Once the pier is completed waterside, we will remove the
temporary trestle in its entirety and demobilize it from site. While the trestle is being removed the
electrical and finishing touches will be completed on the pier.

landside: While constructing the waterside pier we will have a third crew on land installing the pile and
foundations for the new restaurant building. Once the foundations are complete, our local building
subcontractor will start erecting the building and all components required in the plans and documents.

Identified items to consider: As for a lay down area, access routes for materials and the removal of the
existing structure, we are open and willing to work with the owner in determining the most cost
effective measure. We have the option of bringing some of the materials in by barge or by land
whichever is more beneficial to the owner. We will need to keep in mind that if all materials have to be
brought in by water/barge due to lack of land access, weather could play into the completion date.

11

Demolition/Reconstruction Sunny Isles Beach/Newport Fishing Pier at Pier Park, RFP #10-07-02
