Design Philosophy and Process SBLM involves its clients as active participants in the design process. Every project begins with a dialogue to understand the client's business philosophy and operations and to define project goals. We develop the design based on this collaboration, creating solutions that address the program parameters, timeframe and budget. In urban and sub-urban settings where adaptive re-use is the norm, we have the experience to ensure that the required program will complement the existing built conditions. In cases that call for ground-up construction, we perform thorough site studies and environmental analyses that lead to informed and efficient designs. In every instance, we are committed to construction and space planning strategies that infuse the design with meaning and originality, without ever losing site of the factors that drive cost and operational efficiency. Sustainable Design Initiatives SBLM's commitment to sustainability is demonstrated by our portfolio of environmentally sensitive work, including 13 LEED certified/registered projects, and our 30 LEED-accredited staff. Our internal Stewards of Sustainability (SOS) Committee keeps SBLM abreast of the latest developments in green technology, materials and practices while providing a resource for the entire office.
