<br />1.) Firm Overview
<br />
<br />KHA is a full-service, multidisciplinary consulting firm offering a broad range of engineering, planning, landscape architecture, and
<br />environmental services to public- and private-sector clients. Incorporated in 1967 in Raleigh, NC, KHA first became well known for its
<br />expertise in transportation planning and traffic engineering. In the early 1970s, the firm built an impressive track record in regional and
<br />urban area transportation planning, traffic impact analysis, parking planning and design, traffic control system design, and statewide
<br />and local traffic operations and safety studies. During this period, we also added practices in structural, highway, and bridge design, as
<br />well as airport planning and design.
<br />
<br />In 1983, KHA merged with Hutcheon Engineers of West Palm Beach, FL to enhance our general civil and surveying practices. Further
<br />diversification of our services and geographic practice followed over the years through staff hires and company acquisitions and
<br />mergers.
<br />
<br />Today, KHA has more than 1,500 employees in 55 offices throughout 15 states. Our offices are geographically grouped under six
<br />regions: Florida, Southeast, Mid-America, Mountain, Texas, and California. Florida comprises the firm's largest region, with nearly 400
<br />employees in 17 offices.
<br />
<br />Financial State of Business
<br />
<br />We are financially strong, and we are committed to our continued financial health. We currently maintain a $10 million line of credit,
<br />which has not been accessed over the past three years. With the exception of a mortgage on a building and land in Florida, we currently
<br />have no external debt. In addition, we maintain average cash balances in the mid to high eight figure range. KHA's philosophy is to
<br />provide for our operating capital needs without relying on traditional, outside debt or equity, and over the past ten years plus, operating
<br />capital needs have been fully satisfied by operational cash flow. We maintain a disciplined focus on business fundamentals, operate the
<br />firm conservatively, and our internal controls and business standards are designed to keep our foundation strong. We accomplish this
<br />through a combination of practice diversity, strong client service, exceptionally talented staff, and a focus on our financial strength.
<br />
<br />As a privately-held corporation, KHA does not release detailed financial information in response to requests for proposals, which are
<br />in the public record. Upon selection, we would be glad to share details of our financial statements with your auditing staff on a need-
<br />to-know basis. In Section 5, Required Forms and Backup Information, we have included a letter of reference from Brent Gore,
<br />Senior Vice President and Relationship Manager at Wachovia Bank, N.A., where KHA holds its accounts.

<br />KHA is wholly owned by individuals that are KHA employees. At this time, only two people own five percent or more shares. They
<br />are Brooks H. Peed with 5.52% (445 24th Street, Suite 200, Vero Beach, FL 32960) and Mark S. Wilson with 6.05% (3001 Weston
<br />Parkway, Cary, NC 27513). Names of the remaining 280 shareholders can be found in Section 5, Required Forms and Backup
<br />Information. In the interest of brevity, we have omitted addresses for these individuals but can provide them at the City's request.
