.

.

.

I
Lu

Based on the results of this investigation, total arsenic in soil was the only matrix and chemical of concern for the study area.
Applying the established SCTLs for arsenic the area of potential impact was defined both vertically and horizontally allowing
source removal approach to be designed. This design was presented to and approved by the FDEP. Approximately 1,000 cubic
yard of arsenic impacted soil were recovered and transported off site for disposal. A series of conformation samples were
collected from the sides and base of the excavation areas to document the complete removal of the impacted soils. A natural
attenuation/monitoring only (NA/MO) plan was developed and approved by the FDEP providing for the quarterly sampling of
monitoring wells for 1 year.
Five permanent monitoring wells were constructed in former impact area and sampled/analyzed for total arsenic. Elements of this
project that benefited our client include:
. Rapid negotiation and approval of regulatory document from the FDEP
. Innovative use of 0.006 inch slot well screen to reduce impacUfalse readings as a result of groundwater sample turbidity
. Quick implementation of the NA/MO allowing the site investigation groundwater sample results to be used as the first quarterly
monitoring event
. Reduced project costs and schedule
25. FIRMS FROM SECTION C INVOLVED WITH THIS PROJECT
(1) FIRM NAME (2) FIRM LOCATION rCitv and State) ROLE
a. Shaw Environmental, Inc.
