C <br />P-1 <br />L� <br />1. Ducts shall be polyvinyl chloride (PVC Schedule 40) installed on clean <br />fine sand. No rocks or debris shall be allowed as trench fill. <br />2. Cable racks, supports, pulling -in irons, and hardware shall be galvanized <br />steel manufactured by Cope or approved equal, or provided as required. <br />3. Precast pullboxes shall be heavy duty type, designed for a Class H2O <br />wheel load. Precast pullboxes shall be as manufactured by Brooks <br />Products Co., or approved equal. <br />4. Handhole covers and frames shall be traffic rated, H2O class, provided <br />as required and grounded to the system ground. <br />' B. Ducts shall be installed to drain away from panels; ducts between pullboxes <br />shall drain toward the pullbox. Duct slopes shall not be less than 3 inches per <br />100 feet. <br />C. Duct lines shall be laid in trenches on a clean backfill bedding. <br />D. The minimum cover for duct lines shall be as specified. <br />E. PVC duct terminations at pullboxes shall be with PVC and bells. <br />F. Where bends in ducts are required, long radius elbows, sweeps and offsets <br />shall be used. <br />G. All ducts shall be rodded and a mandrel drawn through followed by a swab to <br />lean out any obstructions which may cause cable abrasions. The mandrel <br />shall be 12 inches in length and the diameter %2 -inch less than the inside <br />diameter of the duct. <br />H. Spare ducts shall be plugged and sealed watertight at all pullboxes. <br />I. Ducts in use shall be sealed watertight at all pullboxes. Sealant shall be foam <br />type. <br />J. All joints shall be made so as to prevent the passage of concrete inside the <br />conduit to form obstructions or cause cable abrasions. <br />K. Pullbox covers in all areas shall finish 3- inches above crown of adjacent round <br />elevation. <br />L. A 5/8 -inch by 10 -foot copperclad ground rod shall be driven in the bottom of <br />each pullbox. All bond wires and pullbox cover shall be bonded to the ground <br />rod. <br />09/03 16050 -8 03- 4138.A -R <br />
