Any <br />such authorized pavement opening shall be repaired according to the <br />appropriate specifications in the Utility Accommodation Guide. No <br />cutting of the pavement will be allowed on Interstate of other limited <br />access facilities. <br />PART 6 - TESTING <br />6.01 GENERAL <br />A. In air pressure test for leaks shall be conducted in the presence of the <br />local Engineer or his representative immediately upon completion of each <br />crossing at a minimum test pressure of 20 psig. The test shall be <br />abandoned, if in the opinion of the engineer, the leaks are potentially <br />damaging to the roadway. <br />Either of the two test methods outlined below will be satisfactory. <br />1. Standard twenty -four (24) pressure test with recording chart. <br />2. Pressure test utilizing a dragnet type leak detecting device, or <br />other equivalent testing equipment capable of detecting pressure <br />drops of one -half psi. Length of test to be as recommended by the <br />testing equipment manufacturer for the conditions of the particular <br />job. <br />Leaking pipes that cannot be repaired to meet pressure test are to be <br />filled with concrete by pressure grouting, or other approved means and <br />abandoned if in the opinion of the Engineer the leaks are potentially <br />damaging to the roadway <br />PART 7 - WAIVER OF REQUIREMENTS <br />7.01 GENERAL <br />09/03 <br />A. The requirements and recommendation contained in these guidelines are <br />appropriate for the most common crossing situations. Under unusual <br />conditions, not adequately covered herein, these requirements may be <br />altered or waived when their strict adherence would increase the <br />likelihood of a crossing failure. Any such alteration or waiver shall be <br />based on sound engineering judgement and must be fully documented as <br />outlined in Section 8 of this exhibit. Any alteration or waiver must be <br />approved by the Engineer or authorized representative. <br />16200 -17 03- 1438.A -R <br />
