SECTION 01532 <br />' TREE AND PLANT PROTECTION <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />' 1.01 SCOPE OF WORK <br />A. Provide all equipment and materials, and do all work necessary to protect existing trees <br />tand plants from damage as a result of the contractor's operations. <br />1.02 RELATED WORK <br />A. Section 02210 - Fine Grading <br />B. Section 02481 - Shrub and Tree Relocation <br />C. Section 02490 - Trees, Plants and Groundcover <br />1.03 REFERENCED STANDARDS <br />A. Comply with applicable requirements of the following standards. Where these standards <br />conflict with other specified requirements, the most restrictive requirements shall govern. <br />1. International Society of Arboriculture (ISA): Guide for establishing values of <br />trees and other plants. <br />1.04 SUBMITTALS <br />A. Proposed methods, materials to be employed, and schedule for effecting tree and plant <br />protection shall be submitted for approval. <br />1.05 DAMAGE PENALTIES <br />A. Certain specimen trees adjacent to construction areas and in other key locations will be <br />identified by the Owner and the Landscape Architect, and marked with red tags. Loss or <br />damage to these trees will result in replacement with equal canopy. <br />B. If any trees or shrubs are damaged that are designated to be saved then replacement is <br />required. They shall be replaced with equal number and diameter of trees or shrubs of the <br />same species and variety, as specified by the Owner and Architect, shall be furnished and <br />planted by the Contractor, no additional cost to owner. The total inch diameter of the <br />replacement trees or shrubs shall equal the diameter of the tree of shrub to be replaced. <br />The Contractor shall not be liable for any loss or damage which occurs while the <br />Contractor is complying with instructions given by the Owner, Landscape Architect, or <br />Arborist working on the project. <br />1.06 VEGETATION PROTECTIVE SIGNAGE (PRESERVATION AREAS) <br />A. Two types of signs shall be posted throughout the property with respect to the care of <br />vegetation. The signs are as follows: <br />1. A sign at all access points to the construction areas, informing all personnel that <br />they are entering "Protection Area ". <br />12/04 01532 -1 04 -4801 <br />
