5. Protect all plant material during delivery to prevent damage or desiccation to <br />root ball or desiccation of crown and leaves. <br />6. Mist root balls, tree and palm crowns during delivery and handling to ensure <br />against drying. <br />7. Remove unacceptable plant material immediately from job site. <br />D. Storage: <br />1. Balled and burlapped plant stock: Deliver direct from nursery. <br />2. Bare root plant material: Deliver direct from supplier. <br />3. Protect roots of all plant material from drying or other possible injury. Keep <br />plant root ball and crown moist at all times. <br />4. Store plants in shade and protect from weather. Heel in trees in a vertical <br />position as required. Irrigate all stored plants as required. <br />5. Maintain and protect plant material not to be planted within four hours. Plant <br />palms upon delivery. <br />E. Handling: <br />1. Do not drop plants. <br />2. Do not pick -up container or balled plants by stems or trunks. <br />3. Do not use chains or cables on any trees or palms. Handle using nylon straps, 2- <br />inch width min. <br />1.06 JOB CONDITIONS <br />A. Planting Season: Perform actual planting only when weather and soil conditions are <br />suitable in accordance with locally accepted practice. <br />B. Verify that all existing trees to remain are properly identified and barricaded to prevent <br />damage under this and future construction. Landscape Contractor shall be responsible <br />for maintaining adequate identification and barricading of all existing plant material to <br />remain throughout the installation and required maintenance period. <br />1.07 GUARANTEE <br />A. Guarantee all plant material for one year after substantial completion. <br />B. Replacement plants under this guarantee shall be replaced within two weeks of rejection <br />and guaranteed for twelve months from date of installation. <br />11/04 02490 -3 04 -4801 <br />
