Minimum root ball sizes for all palms shall be as delineated within "Grades and <br />Standards for Nursery Plants, Part Il, Palms and Trees ", published by the State of Florida <br />Department of Agriculture. <br />1. All plants not listed in Grades and Standards for Nursery Plants, published by <br />the Division of Plant Industry, shall conform to a Florida No. 1 as to: <br />a. Health and vitality <br />b. Condition of foliage <br />C. Root system <br />d. Freedom from pests or mechanical damage <br />e. Heavily branched and densely foliated according to the accepted normal <br />shape of the species or sport. <br />2.02 PLANTING SOIL <br />A. Planting soil mixture for backfill around trees, shrubs, and groundcover shall be as <br />specified in Section 02484 - Soil Preparation and soil mixes. <br />* Terrasorb shall be added to all backfill. <br />2.03 SOIL CONDITIONERS <br />A. Soil conditioners shall be as specified in Section 02484 - Soil Preparation and soil mixes. <br />1. As a fertilizer supplement to Phoenix Palms, a foliar spray shall be applied one <br />week after installation (excluding summer months) and again at three -month <br />intervals. The chemical designation shall be 8 -6 -6 with at least 95% of the <br />nitrogen derived from a water - soluble, organic source. The potash source shall <br />be derived from sulphate forms. The following minor elements shall be <br />included: <br />.06% MG <br />.02% B <br />.05% CU <br />1.00% Fe <br />1.00% Mn <br />B. Water shall be available on -site for construction purposes by Owner at several hosebib <br />locations located periodically at designated locations and at quick couplers in the <br />irrigation system. Landscape Contractor will be responsible for transporting water to all <br />other planting areas. <br />In the event that water is not available for any reason, it shall be the responsibility of the <br />contractor to supply and transport water to all landscape areas. <br />2.04 TOP MULCH <br />A. Shredded hardwood mulch, shredded, loose, substantially free of mineral waste <br />materials, and showing an acid reaction. <br />B.
