aCustomer Background L Cook County is comprised of the city of Chicago and surrounding communities, and has a population of over 5 million people and covers 946 square miles. Business Need Cook County's need is to have always -on access for first responders and interoperability communications between local, state, and federal agencies. A solution that meets requirements for industry standards, ruggedization, flexibility, security, scalability and manageability are critical. Solution IBM's solution was Cisco 3200 Wireless & Mobile Routers in the Sheriff's vehicles for mobile access, use of the Cisco 3200 router in a wireless base station configuration bridging locations, and creating wireless coverage areas as well as connecting video surveillance cameras and other sensors. By combing the Cisco 3200 in both the vehicle and deploying it in the infrastructure, the architecture takes advantage of layer 2 and layer functionality for security, scalability, and manageability.
