a. Growing in container for minimum 30 days before delivery, <br />with sufficient root system for container. <br />b. Not root -bound or with root systems hardened off. <br />3. Use only ground cover plants well - established in removable <br />containers, integral containers, or formed homogenous soil <br />sections. <br />E. Minimum root ball sizes for all palms shall be as delineated within "Grades <br />and Standards for Nursery Plants, Part II, Palms and Trees ", published by <br />the State of Florida Department of Agriculture. <br />1. All plants not listed in Grades and Standards for Nursery Plants, <br />published by the Division of Plant Industry, shall conform to a <br />Florida No. 1 as to: <br />a. Health and vitality <br />b. Condition of foliage <br />C. Root system <br />d. Freedom from pests or mechanical damage <br />e. Heavily branched and densely foliated according to the <br />accepted normal shape of the species or sport. <br />2.02 PLANTING SOIL <br />A. Planting soil mixture for backfill around trees, shrubs, and groundcover <br />shall be as specified in Section 02484 - Soil Preparation and soil mixes. <br />Terrasorb shall be added to all backfill. <br />2.03 SOIL CONDITIONERS <br />A. Soil conditioners shall be as specified in Section 02484 - Soil Preparation <br />and soil mixes. <br />1. As a fertilizer supplement to Phoenix Palms, a foliar spray shall be <br />applied one week after installation (excluding summer months) and <br />again at three -month intervals. The chemical designation shall be <br />8 -6 -6 with at least 95% of the nitrogen derived from a water - <br />soluble, organic source. The potash source shall be derived from <br />sulphate forms. The following minor elements shall be included: <br />.06% MG <br />.02% B <br />.05% CU <br />1.00% Fe <br />1.00% Mn <br />B. Water shall be available on -site for construction purposes by Owner at <br />several hosebib locations located periodically at designated locations and <br />1 07/06 02490 -5 05 -5564 <br />
