and filled with epoxy mortar, after which the dowel shall be inserted and left <br />undisturbed until the mortar is hardened. <br />3.09 EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION JOINTS: <br />A. No reinforcement or other fixed metal items shall be run continuous through <br />expansion and contraction joints, unless indicated. <br />1 B. Construct open joints at the locations indicated, by means of a wood strip, <br />metal plate, or other approved material to be subsequently removed. <br />3.10 WATERSTOPS: <br />A. The configuration and location of waterstops in construction joints and <br />expansion joints shall be as indicated, or as ordered by the Engineer, use <br />water stop model No. 778 manufactured by Greenstreak or approved equal. <br />B. Provide waterstops in maximum practicable lengths, with thermal or solvent <br />joints at all cuts, breaks and corners. <br />3.11 INSERTS AND OTHER EMBEDDED ITEMS: <br />A. Place sleeves inserts, anchors, weepholes, and other embedded items <br />needed for adjoining work or for its support before placing concrete. <br />B. Give ample notice to trades whose work is related to the concrete or <br />supported by it so that they have ample opportunity to introduce or furnish <br />or locate embedded items before the concrete is placed. <br />C. <br />Support joint material, waterstops and embedded items against <br />displacement during concrete casting. <br />3.12 PREPARATION BEFORE PLACING CONCRETE: <br />A. <br />Remove hardened concrete and foreign material from surfaces of <br />conveying equipment. <br />B. <br />Clean forms of water, dirt, debris, hardened concrete film and lumps, bar <br />tand <br />wire fragments, and other deleterious matter before concrete is placed. <br />C. <br />Seal cleaning holes and make fully flush with interior surfaces of forms. <br />Locate cleaning holes below finish floor level where <br />possible. <br />I <br />D. <br />Place moisture barrier where indicated over granular fill and bare earth <br />before concrete, except at footings.
