u
• Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc.
i
i
•
•
•
• The Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. (CGA) project approach is based on our understanding of the project
goals and community needs coupled with our extensive experience and technical expertise gathered over the
• past 60 years of providing similar engineering services to municipalities throughout South Florida. We also
• have a complete team of engineers, planners, surveyors, underground locators, landscape architects, GIS
• coordinator, and construction management personnel dedicated to this project. Having so much of the project
staff under one roof will assure the City of responsive performance with minimal coordination time delays,
• more effective communication, and a more efficient use of resources. This all results in a project that is
• completed on -time and within budget.
• The CGA team will work closely with the City staff to address the different tasks of this project including the
• following items:
• Item 1 - Gravity Sewer System
•
• CGA will provide an 8" PVC gravity sewer to service all existing homes and vacant lots within the project
limit. This will consist of approximately 2,500 -1f of pipe and 20 manholes. The proposed system will be
i located along the centerline of the existing paved roadway discharging to a terminating manhole located
• southeast of the existing water body. A lateral service connection will be provided for each residential unit to
the right -of -way line and each homeowner will be responsible for removing the septic tank and connecting to
• the new service line.
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
w
i
Item 2 - Lift Station and Force Main
Option 1: Lift Station and Connection to Existing WASD Gravity Sewer
From the terminating manhole, wastewater will be conveyed to a standard WASD lift station package via
850 -1f of force main into an existing manhole located at the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and Collins
Avenue. It is anticipated that a stand -by generator will not be required for this station due to low flow from
this project, less than 100 gallons per minute.
Option 2: Lift Station and Connection to Existing Force Main at Sunny Isles Beach Boulevard
Should the Miami -Dade Water and Sewer Department (M- DWASD) decide that Option 1 is not feasible due
to operation, maintenance or other engineering issues, the proposed force main would need to be extended
north to connect to an existing force main along Sunny Isles Beach Boulevard. This would require 1,000 -1f of
trenching along Collins Avenue as well as pavement restoration and maintenance of traffic during this
construction activity.
City gf'Sunny Isles Beach, Florida
Professional General Engineering Consultant
RFQ No. 06 -12 -02
January 8, 2007
