Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc.
Item 3 - Resurfacing and Drainage of Atlantic Boulevard
The resurfacing and drainage of Atlantic Boulevard would require pavement restoration for all the trenched
areas and resurfacing the community's entire roadway system, except for the bridges, up to intersection with
Collins Avenue.
Drainage will consist of a new gravity collection system with pre- treatment in swales and exfiltration trench
as necessary and the use of existing outfalls to the intercoastal for overflow purposes.
Quality Assurance /Quality Control
The QC process begins with the Calvin, Giordano Quality Control Handbook. This handbook will be utilized
to develop the project specific plan.
Quality is not a quantity, which can be added to a work product through any
CGA has retained
review process. Therefore, CGA's approach makes quality an integral part of
the project. The concept is a major agenda item at the kickoff meeting with
some clients,
the design team. All team meetings will address the quality by measuring
including the
progress against the client's expectations. The team will meet all product
requirements, technical, budget, and schedule or take immediate corrective
Cities of
action to bring the project back in line. This is the reason the weekly team
Lauderhill,
status meetings are required. It also gives all team members a focus as to how
Hollywood,
their particular task ties into the whole.
Weston, and
These weekly progress meetings are supplemented by a peer review where a
Miramar, for
design group not assigned to the particular assignment will review the plans
with a fresh perspective. Any comments received from this peer review are
more than 10
addressed by the project manager who will make assignments for corrective
years ,
actions to be taken. All corrections are then resubmitted to the PM for final
sign off. This quality review is performed as part of our quality assurance
" s
program.
It has been found that even the best component peer review process, though effective within the particular
discipline being reviewed, may miss the big picture and result in a lack of congruence in the overall product.
It is for this reason that CGA has instituted the policy of a multi - disciplined review of the product before it is
released to the client. By involving the whole team in the entire project quality process, a sense of ownership
can develop which keeps team members focused on quality throughout the design process.
Project quality control is evident by the number of repeat clients and the length of time these clients have
relied on CGA's consulting experience. CGA's has retained some clients for more than 10 years.
QUALITY CONTROL PROCEDURES
CGA's philosophy and corresponding process to assure quality in all of our designs and work products
integrates the following key components:
• Initial Quality of Design
• Multidiscipline Peer Review
City gfSunny isles Beach, Florida
Professional General Engineering Consultant
RFQ No. 06 -12 -02
January 8, 2007
