Do not add water to concrete during delivery, at Project site, or during placement unless <br />approved by Architect. <br /> <br />B. Deposit concrete continuously between construction joints. Deposit concrete to avoid <br />segregation. <br /> <br />C. Cold-Weather Placement: Comply with ACI306.1. Protect concrete work from physical <br />damage or reduced strength that could be caused by frost, freezing actions, or low temperatures. <br /> <br />D. Hot-Weather Placement: Comply with ACI 301. <br /> <br />3.6 FINISHES <br /> <br />A. Architectural Concrete Finish: Match Architect's design reference sample, identified and <br />described as indicated, to satisfaction of Architect. <br /> <br />B. Related Unformed Surfaces: At tops of walls, horizontal offsets, and similar unformed surfaces <br />adjacent to formed surfaces, strike off smooth and fmish with a texture matching adjacent <br />formed surfaces. <br /> <br />1. Continue fInal surface treatment of formed surfaces uniformly across adjacent unformed <br />surfaces, unless otherwise indicated. <br /> <br />C. Maintain uniformity of special fmishes over construction joints, unless otherwise indicated. <br /> <br />D. Form Liner Finish: Produce a textured surface free of pockets, streaks, and honeycombs, and of <br />uniform appearance, color, and texture. <br /> <br />E. Scrubbed Finish: After concrete has achieved a compressive strength of from 1000 to 1500 psi <br />(6.9 to 10.3 MPa), apply scrubbed fmish. Wet concrete surfaces thoroughly and scrub with stiff <br />fiber or wire brushes, using water freely, until top mortar surface is removed and aggregate is <br />uniformly exposed. Rinse scrubbed surfaces with clean water. Maintain continuity of fmish on <br />each surface or area of Work. Remove only enough concrete mortar from surfaces to match <br />design reference sample or mockup. <br /> <br />F. High-Pressure Water-Jet Finish: Perform high-pressure water jetting on concrete that has <br />achieved a minimum compressive strength of 4500 psi (31 MPa). Coordinate with formwork <br />removal to ensure that surfaces to be high-pressure water-jet finished are treated at same age for <br />uniform results. <br /> <br />G. Abrasive-Blast Finish: Perform abrasive blasting after compressive strength of concrete <br />exceeds 2000 psi (13.8 MPa). Coordinate with formwork removal to ensure that surfaces to be <br />abrasive blasted are treated at same age for uniform results. Expose aggregate as follows: <br /> <br />1. Brush: Remove cement matrix to dull surface sheen and expose face of fme aggregate; <br />with no significant reveal. <br />2. Light: Expose fme aggregate with occasional exposure of coarse aggregate and uniform <br />color; with maximum reveal of 1/16 inch (1.5 mm). <br /> <br />CAST -IN-PLACE ARCHITECTURAL CONCRETE <br /> <br />03331 -7 <br />
