Discard and replace precast structural concrete units that do not comply with requirements,
including structural, manufacturing tolerance, and appearance, unless repairs meet requirements
in PCI MNL 116 and meet Architect's approval.

2.10 CASTING INSULATED WALL PANELS

A. Cast and screed wythe supported by mold.

B. Place insulation boards abutting edges and ends of adjacent boards. Insert wythe connectors
through insulation, and consolidate concrete around connectors according to connector
manufacturer's written instructions.

C. Cast and screed top wythe to meet required finish.

2.11 FABRICATION TOLERANCES

A. Fabricate precast structural concrete units straight and true to size and shape with exposed edges
and comers precise and true so each finished unit complies with PCI MNL 116 product
dimension tolerances.

2.12 COMMERCIAL FINISHES

A. Commercial Grade: R,emove fIns and large protrusions and fill large holes. Rub or grind
ragged edges. Faces must have true, well-defmed surfaces. Air holes, water marks, and color
variations are permitted. Limit formjoint offsets to 3/16 inch (5 mm).

B. Standard Grade: Nomtal plant-run fmish produced in molds that impart a smooth fmish to
concrete. Surface hole:; smaller than 1/2 inch (13 mm) caused by air bubbles, normal color
variations, form joint marks, and minor chips and spalls are permitted. Fill air holes greater
than 1/4 inch (6 mm) in width that occur more than once per 2 sq. in (1300 sq. mm). Major or
unsightly imperfections, honeycombs, or structural defects are not permitted. Limit joint offsets
to 1/8 inch (3 nun).

C. Grade B Finish: Fill air pockets and holes larger than 1/4 inch (6 mm) in diameter with sand-
cement paste matching Golor of adjacent surfaces. Fill air holes greater than 1/8 inch (3 mm) in
width that occur more than once per 2 sq. in. (1300 sq. mm). Grind smooth form offsets or fIns
larger than 1/8 inch (3 mm). Repair surface blemishes due to holes or dents in molds.
Discoloration at formjoints is permitted.

D. Grade A Finish: Fill surface blemishes with the exception of air holes 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) in
width or smaller, and form marks where the surface deviation is less than 1/16 inch (1.6 mm).
Float apply a neat cement-paste coating to exposed surfaces. Rub dried paste coat with burlap
to remove loose particltes. Discoloration at form joints is permitted. Grind smooth all form
joints.

E. Screed or float finish unformed surfaces. Strike off and consolidate concrete with vibrating
screeds to a uniform finish. Hand screed at projections.
