<br />C. Shrub sprinklers shall be installed on 1/2" SCH 40 PVC risers. Each shrub riser shall be <br />installed a uniform height of six inches above grade and shall be located within plant <br />masses to conceal from view. <br /> <br />Shrub sprinklers located adjacent to curbs, sidewalks or edge of paving shall be installed <br />twelve to eighteen inches from back of curbs, sidewalks or pavement. <br /> <br />All sprinkler head risers above finished grade shall be painted with exterior alkyd enamel <br />paint, flat black color or as approved by the City. Contractor shall provide sample of <br />paint to the Consultant prior to installation. <br /> <br />D. Pop-up sprinklers shall be installed on swing joints as shown in detailed drawings. Each <br />sprinkler head shall be installed so that the top is slightly above the finished grade level. <br />Backfill around swing joints and sprinklers shall be free of large rocks, roots, or foreign <br />debris. <br /> <br />E. Pop-up spray sprinklers located adjacent to curbs, sidewalks, fences, building or edge of <br />paving shall be installed four inches from back of curb, sidewalk, pavement, buildings, or <br />fences. Pop-up rotary sprinklers adjacent to curbs, sidewalks or edge of parking shall be <br />installed eight inches from back of curb, sidewalk or pavement. <br /> <br />3.04 CONTROLLERS <br /> <br />A. Controller shall be installed following the recommendations of the manufacturer of the <br />equipment. The location of each controller shall be approved by the Consultant or City <br />prior to installation. <br /> <br />B. Electric Controller shall be installed as a wall mount set perpendicular to grade with the <br />controller secured to an electric panel. <br /> <br />C. Electric Controller shall be properly grounded for protection from lightning. <br /> <br />D. Battery powered controllers shall be mounted in a valve box. <br /> <br />3.05 CONTROL WIRE <br /> <br />A. Control wires shall be installed at least eighteen inches below finish grade and laid to the <br />side of the main line. Provide looped slack at valves and snake wires in bundles at ten <br />foot (10') intervals. <br /> <br />B. No underground splices shall be made except at electric valves in valve boxes. Solder <br />splices and coat with elastometric waterproof cement. Wrap with electrical tape and coat <br />again with elastometric waterproof cement. <br /> <br />C. All wire passing under existing or future paving or construction shall be encased in SCH <br />40 PVC conduit extending at least twenty-four inches (24") beyond edges of paving and <br />stabilized for construction. Any wire in plant beds shall be placed in 3/4" Class 160 PVC <br />18" minimum burial. Installation procedures shall conform to all local codes. <br /> <br />D.
