<br />A. Each automatic valve shall be installed in a valve box and shall be arranged for easy <br />adjustment. Valve boxes shall be installed flush with grade and shall contain a minimum <br />of one cubic foot of coarse gravel under the valve itself. Contractor shall insure <br />percolation through the box. Valve boxes shall be located and installed to deter <br />vandalism. <br /> <br />B. Those valves controlled by battery shall be equipped with the proper latching solenoid. <br /> <br />3.07 BACK FLOW PREVENTER (Existing) <br /> <br />A. Backflow preventer shall be installed in accordance with applicable local codes to meet <br />requirements for cross connection control. <br /> <br />3.08 RAIN SENSOR/RAIN SHUT-OFF <br /> <br />A. A rain sensor shall be installed in the electrically controlled system to conserve water. <br />The rain sensor shall be installed in accordance with local codes and manufacturer's <br />instructions. Location shall be selected on site. <br /> <br />B. A rain shut-off shall be installed with each battery powered controller. <br /> <br />3.09 GATE VALVES <br /> <br />A. Gate valves shall be installed in accordance with local codes and arranged in valve box <br />for easy adjustment and removal. <br /> <br />3.10 VALVE BOXES <br /> <br />A. Valve boxes shall be installed so the top of the box is at finished grade and parallel to <br />adjacent boxes, curbs, walks. Each valve box cover shall be equipped with an anti-theft <br />mechanism. Valve boxes shall be installed to deter vandalism. <br /> <br />B. Proper drainage material shall be provided per box. <br /> <br />3.11 DRIP EQUIPMENT <br /> <br />A. Drip irrigation shall be installed in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Drip pipe <br />with 0.9 GPH/hr. emitters spaced 12" on center shall be spaced a maximum of 24" <br />between rows. <br /> <br />3.12 TESTING AND INSPECTION <br /> <br />A. Cleaning and Pressure Testing: Flush irrigation system with water to clear lines of <br />foreign materials after system assembly is complete prior to installation of sprinkler <br />heads. Cap and plug outlets and fill lines with water. Pressurize assembly to 100 P.5.I. <br />and shut off pump. System shall hold at 100 P.5.I. for one hour with no loss in pressure. <br />Joints, tees, elbows, caps and connections shall be left uncovered during this test. Main <br />line sections of solid unbroken pipe should be buried at intervals adequate to secure <br />stabilization of pipe runs when pressurized. If necessary, repair leaks and retest <br />assembly until satisfactory.
