Anti-transparent: "Dowax", "Wilt-Pruf', or equivalent. <br /> <br />K. St. Augustine Floratam Sod or Argentine Bahia Sod: <br /> <br />1. Sod strongly rooted and free of pernicious weeds. <br />2. Mow sod to a height not to exceed 1-1/2 inches before lifting. <br />3. Lifts shall have uniform thickness with not over 1-1/2 inches nor less than one <br />inch of soil. <br />4. Sod containing nutgrass, lippia, water sedge and dollar weed is not acceptable. <br /> <br />2.02 PLANT MATERIAL <br /> <br />A. The words "plant materials" or "plants" refer to and include trees, palms, and herbaceous <br />materials. <br /> <br />B. Plant species shall conform to those indicated on the drawings. <br /> <br />C. Plant Quality: <br /> <br />1. Plants shall be freshly dug, balled and burlapped nursery grown stock or <br />container grown nursery stock. All plants shall be free of broken, damaged root <br />balls or root bound conditions. Plants shall be sound, healthy, vigorous, free <br />from plant diseases, insect pests or their eggs, and shall have healthy normal <br />root systems. <br /> <br />2. Collected plants shall not be used unless authorized in writing by the Consultant. <br /> <br />3. All plant material not otherwise specified as being Florida Fancy, shall be Florida <br />No. 1 or better quality, graded in accordance with Grades and Standards for <br />Nurserv Plants. published by the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture. <br />Plants judged to be not in accordance with said standards will be rejected. <br />CONTRACTOR shall submit photographs of all Date Palms for approval by <br />Consultant. <br /> <br />4. Caliper measurement, height measurement, height relation to caliper, spread, <br />bare root and ball dimensions, number of canes, and related requirements shall <br />confirm to the applicable standards above. <br /> <br />5. Substitutions in plant species or sizes shall be made only after written <br />authorization by the Consultant. <br /> <br />6. Any materials and/or work may be rejected if, in the opinion of the Consultant, <br />such Work does not meet the requirements of the specifications. All rejected <br />materials shall be promptly removed from the site by the Contractor at no <br />expense to the City or Consultant. <br /> <br />7. "Specimen" shall mean an exceptional, heavy, symmetrical, tightly knit plant, so <br />trained or favored in its development that its appearance is unquestionably and <br />outstandingly superior in form, number of branches, compactness and symmetry. <br /> <br />PAGE 120 OF 130 <br />BID No. 08-10-01 <br />
