<br />Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting <br /> <br />July 19,2007 <br /> <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br /> <br />10H.A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Approving a <br />Project Grant Agreement with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Attached <br />Hereto as Exhibit "A"; Authorizing the City Manager to Accept a Grant Award of <br />$200,000.00 from the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) <br />for Development of the Pelican Community Park Located at 181 st - 1820d Drive and <br />North Bay Road; Authorizing the Mayor to Execute Said Agreement; Authorizing the City <br />Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate the Terms of this Resolution; Providing <br />for an Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Assistant City Manager/Finance Doug Haag <br />reported, noting that this is a renewal and an extension of a previous grant that had expired <br />before this project was completed. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: none <br /> <br />Mayor Edelcup noted that this was delayed because the Park was not ready at the time. <br /> <br />Commissioner Brezin moved and Vice Mayor Thaler seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2007-1136 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> <br />11. MOTIONS <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />12. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br /> <br />12A. Discussion regarding Dr. Cornfeld's Proposal for the City to Take Over the Newport Pier. <br />Action: Withdrawn as this was discussed at the July 16,2007 Budget Workshop. <br /> <br />12B. Discussion/Presentation of Police Vehicles with Mobile Units Filing Reports Electronically. <br />Action: City Manager Szerlag noted that this is going to be a monthly endeavor to highlight <br />something positive about this organization, to update the Commission and the public about <br />what we are doing in a very positive fashion. <br /> <br />Captain Michael Grandinetti presented a power-point presentation on the implementation of <br />the Public Safety Automation System. He said the project was estimated to cost $738,000, <br />with an implementation timeline of 12-15 months, they went before the Commission and <br />approval was granted, funding ofthis project was approved and allocated from the Federal <br />Forfeiture Funds. He said because ofthe diligence and hard work oftheir Project Manager, <br />Kamran Sadighi from the Information Technology Department, and everyone else involved <br />in this implementation, they were able to complete this project between 4-7 months early, <br />and approximately $30,000 under budget. <br /> <br />Captain Grandinetti said this automation project consisted offour major modules: Computer <br />Aided Dispatch System; Mobile Computer Terminals, which are the laptops in the cars; <br />Mobile Field Reporting, which gives the officers the ability to write their reports directly <br />from the Police cars; and Records Management System. He then showed a video <br />demonstrating the working efforts and the affects of this completed project. <br />6 <br />
