<br />Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting <br /> <br />May 15,2008 <br /> <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br /> <br />Pedestrian Signal Locations; Item 12B, Design for Heritage Park & Garage; Item 12D, <br />Additional Information, Boat Slip Rentals; Add-On Items: Item 5C, $500 to be presented <br />by Ron Silver for the City's Summer Camp; Item 10J, Resolution Directing the City <br />Manager to Comply with Terms and Conditions of St. Tropez Offer Letter. <br />Action: Mayor Edelcup noted the above changes to the agenda. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Thaler moved and Commissioner Brezin seconded a motion to approve the <br />above changes to the agenda. The motion was approved by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> <br />5. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br />SA. Presentation by Lewis Beilman, State of Florida Water Management Districts, regarding <br />Water Conservation. <br />Action: [City Clerk's Note: Leaflets entitled Landscape Irrigation Water Restrictions, <br />Commercial Water- Use Restrictions, and 5 0 Ways to be Water Smart were handed out prior <br />to the meeting.) Lewis Beilman of the State of Florida Water Management Districts, <br />reported that the District is now formulating a year-round water conservation, landscape and <br />irrigation rule that will probably go into effect sometime in the Fall of2008, which will limit <br />when people can water their lawns the same two-day a week schedule that we have in place <br />now. Mayor Edelcup said that we would disseminate the information throughout the City, as <br />well as place something in the Sunny Isles Beach Sun. <br /> <br />5B. Presentation by Loretta Mufson, President of Ruth K. Broad/Bal Harbor PT A <br />Association, thanking City for donation for Teacher Appreciation Week event. <br />Action: Loretta Mufson thanked the Commission for their contribution for Teacher <br />Appreciation Week and presented a plaque. <br /> <br />5C. Add-On: <br />Presentation by Ron Silver, of $1,000.00 $500.00 to the City's Summer Camp Program <br />through the Sunflower Society in Honor of Former City Commissioner Connie Morrow. <br />Action: Mayor Ede1cup introduced Ron Silver who presented Marjorie York with two <br />checks for the Sunflower Society in a total of$I,OOO.OO to be used for the City's Summer <br />Camp Program. Marjorie York accepted the checks and said that the Sunflower Society will <br />be presenting a contribution to the City for the Summer Camp Program at the June 19,2008 <br />City Commission Meeting. <br /> <br />6. ZONING: ZONING HEARINGS ARE QUASI-JUDICIAL PUBLIC HEARINGS. <br /> <br />6A. Request of R.K. Associates, Owner of the Property Located at 16850, 17004-17108 and <br />18090-18290 Collins Avenue, for the Following: (Hearing #Z2008-01) <br /> <br />The Applicant is requesting a variance from the Sign Regulations Code Section 265-58.1 ofthe <br />Land Development Regulations which requires all multi tenant sign plazas to comply with no <br />more than one color consistent with the Uniform Sign Plan. The Applicant proposes signage <br />for each one of their shopping center properties. The request is in four (4) different colors for <br />the plaza signs as follows: black, red, white, and green, in addition to the existing blue color. <br />Protests 0 Waivers 0 Ex Parte 0 <br /> <br />2 <br />
