<br />The Miami-Dade Local Mitigation Strategy <br />June 2011 <br /> <br />~~ ~ ~or <br />Approved ~ <br /> <br />Veto <br /> <br />Override <br /> <br />I>,genda Item No. 14 (Al (5 l <br />4-20-10 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />R-45~lO <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE LOCN_ MITIGATION <br />STRATEGY IDENTIFYING AND PRIORIH~ING HAZARDS <br />MITIGATION GRANT PROGRAM PROJECTB TO BECOME A <br />PART OF THE STATEWIDE HAZAlm MITIGATION STRATEGY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Board adopted Resolution No. R-3J32-98 on March 31, 1998 which <br /> <br /> <br />approved the Initial execution of a Hazards MitigatIon Str~d.egy agreement with the Florida <br /> <br /> <br />Department of Community Affairs (FDCA); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State requires all Local Mltigaticn Strategy (LMS) program> be <br /> <br />approved every five years by the governing board of the agency submitting the plan and Mlami- <br /> <br /> <br />Dade County's first LMS plan was approved In thll middle of he 1995-2000 five year cycle; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on June 6, 2000 Resolullon No. R.572J:)0 was adopted by the Board and <br /> <br /> <br />then again on June 7, 2005 via Resolution No. R-710.C 5 and the year 2010 marl<, thr! <br /> <br />completion of the last 5 year cycle; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Allency funded a national inilialive to <br />help communities develop local mitigation strategies that identify projects to mitigate the dfect~ <br />of natural disasters and to Identify sources of funds to addr~;s those problems; and <br />WHEREAS, the State of Florida Department of Community Affairs and/or "Iorida <br />Division of Emergency Management enters into agreements with Miami-Dade County to r.rovide <br />the funding for the County and munlclpalllles \0 jointly deleJop a Local Millgation Stra!egy :0 <br />become a component of the Statewide Millg'ation Strategy; I nd <br />WHEREAS, the County entered into agreements with local municipalities to estl,blish 8 <br />unified process for developing the Local Mitigation Strategy and convey funds for participation Ie, <br />the plan development; and <br />WHEREAS, the Local MitIgation Strategy meets tho,. state agreement requirements and <br />was accomplished with the particIpation of local governments, the School Board of Mlarll-Dade <br />L.l <br /> <br />-1 <br /> <br />3 <br />
