An Ordinance ofthe City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Amending <br />Sections 265-34, 265-35, and 265-36 of the Zoning Code to Correct a Scrivener Error; <br />Providing for a Repealer; Providing for Severability; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and City Attorney Ottinot reported noting that this <br />Ordinance is to correct a scrivener's error. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: None <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Thaler moved and Commissioner Gatto seconded a motion to approve the <br />proposed ordinance on first reading. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5- <br />o in favor. An Ordinance of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Amending <br />Section 10 Entitled Budget Procedures to Create a New Section Entitled Emergency Fund <br />Balance Reserve; Requiring Budget Amendments be Approved by Ordinance; Providing for <br />Repealer; Providing for Severability; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Mayor Edelcup reported that one of the major <br />responsibilities of the City Commission is to ensure fiscal stability and for several years the <br />City has maintained a healthy reserve fund of $10 Million to be used for emergency <br />purposes. To protect our rainy day fund and to ensure the availability of funds for man-made <br />or natural disasters, he is proposing this Ordinance to codify that the City must keep a <br />minimum of $10 Million as a rainy day fund. Under this proposed Ordinance the $10 <br />Million fund must be used for emergency purposes only and in order to use it, the City <br />Commission is required to approve any use of funds by Resolution upon the super majority, <br />which today would be 4-1, and he noted that any reserve funds accumulated above $10 <br />Million can be used without any restriction. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: None <br /> <br />Commissioner Aelion moved and Vice Mayor Thaler seconded a motion to approve the <br />proposed ordinance on first reading.
