An Ordinance ofthe City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Amending <br />Ordinance No. 2011-369; Amending the City's Budget for the 2011-2012 Fiscal Year- <br />General Fund; Authorizing the City Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this <br />Ordinance; Providing for an Effective Date. <br />(First Reading 12/15/11) <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: None <br /> <br />Commissioner Scholl moved and Vice Mayor Thaler seconded a motion to adopt the <br />ordinance. RESOLUTIONS <br /> <br />lOA. A Resolution of the City Commission ofthe City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Adopting the <br />Miami-Dade County Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS), Attached Hereto as Exhibit "A"; <br />Authorizing the City Manager to Identify and Prioritize Hazard Mitigation Grant Program <br />Projects to Become a Part of the Local and Statewide Hazard Mitigation Strategy; Further <br />Authorizing the City Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution; <br />Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and City Manager Cohen reported noting that every <br />five (5) years the City goes through a recertification of the community rating system. The <br />points that are accumulated through this recertification process determine in part the rates <br />that our residents will pay for Flood Insurance. By adopting the LMS which was done in <br />collaboration with Miami-Dade County and other municipalities, we will gain more points in <br />the certification process leading to lower insurance rates for our residents. Commissioner <br />Aelion said some of the properties are in the flood zone and others are not, how does that <br />affect the general mitigation, City Manager Cohen said he will come back with an answer. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: None <br /> <br />Commissioner Scholl moved and Vice Mayor Thaler seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2012-1832 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> <br />lOB. A Resolution of the City Commission ofthe City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Approving <br />Budget Amendment No. BAl112-012 to Fiscal Year 2011/2012 Budget for the Collins <br />Avenue Street Improvement - West Phase III Project in an Amount of $100,000.00; <br />Authorizing the City Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution; <br />Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Assistant City Manager/Finance Shah reported. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: None <br /> <br />Commissioner Aelion moved and Commissioner Scholl seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution.
