MINUTES <br />CITY COMMISSION MEETING <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA <br />THURSDAY, AUGUST 7, 1997 <br />THUNDERBIRD RESORT HOTEL <br />18401 COLLINS AVENUE <br />I. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the <br />mayor at 2:00 p.m. Present were the following: <br />Commissioner Daniel Iglesias <br />Commissioner Lila Kaufman (arrived at 2:05 p.m.) <br />Commissioner Connie Morrow <br />Commissioner Irving Turetsky <br />Mayor David Samson <br />Interim City Attorney Lynn Dannheisser <br />Acting City Clerk Guido Inguanzo <br />II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Mayor Sampson led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />III. ELECTION OF VICE MAYOR: Commissioner Morrow made a motion <br />nominating Commissioner Turetsky to serve as Vice Mayor for a period of one year. The <br />motion was seconded by Commissioner Iglesias and adopted by a 4 — 0 roll call vote. <br />The vote was as follows: Commissioners Iglesias, Morrow, Turetsky, and Mayor <br />Samson voting Yes. <br />IV. DISCUSSION OF SUNSHINE LAWS AND CODE OF ETHIC ISSUES: <br />The attorney made a presentation to the commission relating to the state's Sunshine Laws <br />and Code of Ethics. <br />V. ORDINANCE: The acting clerk read the following emergency ordinance by <br />title: <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA ADOPTING PURSUANT TO SECTIONS 8.3 AND 8.9 OF THE <br />MUNICIPAL CHARTER AN INTERIM ORDINANCE WITH RESPECT TO <br />THE METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY ZONING CODE TO ADOPT SAME <br />FOR THE CITY WITH THE MODIFICATION THAT "CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH" BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ANY REFERENCE TO <br />"METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY" AND "COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH" BE SUBSTITUTED FOR "BOARD OF COUNTY <br />
