Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting July 19,2012 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida <br /> result of the two-day Workshop where we were able to find some cost savings in the various <br /> entities that we were reviewing. Commissioner Scholl noted that in this past week three <br /> municipalities in California filed for bankruptcy and we are lowing the tax rate. Vice Mayor <br /> Thaler said that it comes from hard work from the Commission,we worked ten hours on the <br /> budget and that was after our staff put hundreds of hours into putting the budget together. He <br /> and the Commission thanked staff for putting together the budget. Commissioner Gatto also <br /> was pleased with the budget and she thanked Assistant City Manager/Finance Shah and her <br /> staff. <br /> Commissioner Scholl moved and Commissioner Gatto seconded a motion to approve the <br /> resolution,as amended at 2.8 mills. Resolution No.2012-1930 was adopted by a voice <br /> vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> 10B. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida,Amending <br /> Resolution No. 2011-1757 Amending the Schedule for City Commission Meetings for <br /> Calendar Year 2012 by Adding a Special City Commission Meeting on Tuesday,August <br /> 21, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.; Adding Special City Commission Meetings Tentatively on Friday, <br /> September 7,2012,at 5:01 p.m.,and Thursday,September 27,2012,at 6:00 p.m.,for Fiscal <br /> Year 2012/2013 Budget Hearings; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> Action: City Clerk Hines read the title. <br /> Public Speakers: None <br /> Vice Mayor Thaler moved and Commissioner Gatto seconded a motion to approve the <br /> resolution. Resolution No. 2012-1931 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> 10C. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida,Pursuant to <br /> Section 5.1 of the Municipal Charter, Calling for a General Election to be Held on <br /> Tuesday,November 6,2012,for the Purpose of Submitting to the Electorate of the City of <br /> Sunny Isles Beach the Names of All Qualified Candidates for Election to the Position of City <br /> Commissioner,Seat 01 (Northern Residential Area),and of City Commissioner,Seat 03 <br /> (Southern Residential Area);Providing for a Run-Off Election,if Necessary,to be Held <br /> on Tuesday, December 4, 2012; Designating One Registered Voter Who Shall Serve <br /> with the City Manager and the City Clerk as the Canvassing Board for Said Run-Off <br /> Election; Providing for Conducting the Elections, Polling Places, Form of Ballot, Voter <br /> Registration,Notice of Elections; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and reported recommending Emanuel Pine to be <br /> designated as a Canvassing Board member. <br /> Public Speakers: Emanuel Pine <br /> Mayor Edelcup introduced Emanuel Pine and noted that he has been our Canvassing Board <br /> Member since the day the City was incorporated, and he thanked him for volunteering. <br /> Commissioner Scholl moved and Vice Mayor Thaler seconded a motion to approve the <br /> resolution.
